Ghostbusters, Real And Otherwise

To me, the real GHOSTBUSTERS was the 1975 Saturday morning TV show with Larry Storch and Forrest Tucker, although I also remember that following a movie of the same name they not only had a cartoon version but a competing cartoon called THE REAL GHOSTBUSTERS. How it could be real when it wasn't first was never explained.

But the "Ghostbusters" business went back even further than that. The first use of the term "Ghostbuster" ( singular ) in the movies seems to be this two-reel comedy with Gil Lamb and Carol Hughes.

The line "I ain't scared of no ghosts" was in the 1937 Walt Disney cartoon LONESOME GHOSTS.

THE GHOST BREAKER, 1922.

This movie was remade in 1940 by Bob Hope.

A 1941 movie.

GHOST CATCHERS, 1944

SPOOK BUSTERS had almost the same name as GHOST BUSTERS, and an ape, besides.

GHOST CHASERS was another movie in the same series with a similar title.

MICROSPOOK, another spooky story with a gorilla

With Don Wilson, Christine McIntyre, and friend.

I'd go ape for that blonde myself.

Bob Burns and the gorilla suit he wore as "Tracy" on the GHOSTBUSTERS show.
