"Anzio Annie" was a notorious rail gun used by the Nazis during World War II. A fictional version called Big Max is featured in this story by Jack Kirby. Also featured are what is purported to be a science fiction superweapon such as appeared in wartime pulps and what appears to have been a real-life science fiction fan who Kirby used as a character in the story.
