The beginnings of Blondie go all the way back to the flapper era. Blondie was really another version of Chic Young's earlier character "Dumb Dora". "Dumb Dora" meant about the same thing as "Dumb Blonde". But like Dumb Dora, Blondie wasn't so dumb. Blondie was in fact one of the greatest successes in the history of comics.
Before she was married to Dagwood, Blondie's last name was "Boopadoop" and her boyfriend was named "Hiho". Hiho is in these strips, which were originally published in 1931.
