Bob Hope Comics #10 ( DC )

Missing page 24

For years DC comics published a Bob Hope comic book. This particular issue is #10, the August-September issue for 1951. This comic book was bimonthly and was still being published as late as 1968.

"Captain Tootsie" was like a different version of Captain Marvel, whose comics were still being published in 1951.

Fleer's Double Bubble Gummers look a lot like the Our Gang kids. The production of those films had ended by this time, but they continued to be reissued to the theaters in the fifties.

  1. Owen Fitzgerald was a fabulous comic artist - one of the very best. Was he recognized as such in the industry?

  2. I don't think most of the comic book artists back then got as much recognition as some of the guys that came later on. But evidently other artists at DC comics tried to draw like him, including Mort Drucker and Bob Oskner, they're both famous artists now.
