Merry, The Gimmick Girl - "The Adventures Of The Rope!"

The Star-Spangled Kid's gimmick was that he was a kid and had a sidekick that was a grown man, a reversal of the usual trend. In this story, the sidekick is sidelined and replaced by the kid's sister in her identity of Merry, the Gimmick Girl. Despite the disdain of her Star-Spangled brother, she ends up being the one who brings the villain to justice. The strip's original stars were created by Jerry Siegel ( co-creator of Superman ), but Merry was created by Otto Binder. Art by Win Mortimer. Originally published in 1948 in STAR SPANGLED COMICS #83.
