Mighty Man And The World's Strongest Girl

R

"Mighty Man" and "Super Ann Star" remind me of Doc Savage and Pat Savage, or Superman and Supergirl. Although as the story dates from 1942, it predated DC comic's Supergirl.

The girl could also be seen as Carole Landis, who was popular during World War II, or Betty Grable, who was even more popular during World War II. Or so the studio said.

The Legend Of The Lone President

We sincerely feel that this story is destined to become an immortal classic! 'Nuf said!

Via Carolyn Rose Goyda on facebook:

President BARACK OBAMA was invited to address a major gathering of the American Indian Nation two weeks ago in upstate New York. He spoke for almost an hour about his plans for increasing every Native American's present standard of living. He referred to his time as a U.S. Senator and how he had voted for every Native American issue that came to the floor of the Senate.

Although President Obama w...as vague about the details of his plans, he seemed most enthusiastic and spoke eloquently about his ideas for helping his "Red sisters and brothers". At the conclusion of his speech, the Tribes presented Obama with a plaque inscribed with his new Indian name, "Walking Eagle".

The proud President Obama accepted the plaque and then departed in his motorcade to a fundraiser, waving to the crowds.

A news reporter later asked the group of chiefs how they came to select the new name they had given to the President. They explained that "Walking Eagle" is the name given to a bird so full of shit it can no longer fly.

The New Lone Ranger Movie

I do not reccomend the new Lone Ranger movie.

I think I should say that this is not a faithful adaptation and that
there is some sort of pretense here that they had to make amends for the
character of Tonto as depicted on the old Lone Ranger show.

On that program, Tonto was very important even though he was not the primary
character. Tonto saved the Lone Ranger's life when he was dying after being
ambushed by outlaws and then made some useful suggestions which the Lone Ranger
was able to use when he went in pursuit of the villians. In many later
adventures, Tonto would go in to town to scout things out in advance. There is
no reason to say that Tonto was stupid or that he wasn't depicted favorably.

If someone wants to make further use to the characters of the Lone Ranger and
Tonto, they would do well to recognize the success of previous versions rather
than to stick with the failures of the last movie. - Benny Drinnon, who once
appeared on television with Clayton Moore

Doesn't he look stupid?

Is this really an improvement over the Jay Silverheels version?

From what I've been hearing it doesn't seem that anybody else likes the new version much, either.

Sammy Terry Obituary

Sammy Terry was a local horror movie host on Indianapolis station WTTV Channel 4. You can see videos of him on youtube.

Sammy Terry had a long career as a horror movie host, but I think he was only on Channel 4 even though there was an item in the news that said he was going to be on Channel 11 ( a low power station that is no longer in operation ) which was repeated afterwards in a book about television horror movie hosts.

I met Sammy Terry years ago when he made a personal appearance at a Sears store downtown which has since gone out of business. That was back when he was on Channel 4, and I was only a kid at the time. I remember that his show was very popular with kids.

Here is his obituary from yesterday's paper:

Sammy Terry of Indianapolis late-night television dies at 83

Generations grew up watching TV pioneer on Indy's late-night horror series 'Nightmare Theater'

Bob Carter aka 'Sammy Terry' was a Friday night fixture as host of 'Shock Theater' and 'Nightmare Theater' during the 60s and 70s. The ghoul and his spider side-kick 'George' would introduce horror movies and provide banter during commercial breaks. Carter died Sunday at age 83.

Bob Carter, who went by Sammy Terry while hosting a late-night scary movie on Indianapolis television from the 1960s into the 1980s, died Sunday, a spokesman for American Senior Communities confirmed.
Carter, who was 83, had been a resident of one of the communities for several years.
From 1962 to 1989, Carter introduced horror flicks on Channel 4’s “Nightmare Theater,” later called “Shock Theater.” He did it with style, beginning each show by climbing out of a coffin wearing extremely heavy make-up and a dark cape and skull cap arrangement. His sidekick was a pet spider named George. Carter, as Terry, was famous for his fiendish chuckle.
Carter had a separate life as the owner and operator of a music store on North Shadeland Avenue called Family Music Center.
Funeral arrangements could not yet be determined but are expected to include a public viewing
