Stan Lee's 1948 book on the Timely Comics creation process.
From the Jack Kirby Fan Group on facebook.
Loren McGregor: At Robert Beerbohm's request, here are seven pages from Stan Lee's "Secrets Behind the Comics," showing how "Marty Goodman" created the character we now know as Captain America.
Loren McGregor:Kirk, I believe most of the panel work not specifically credited on this book was done by Ken Bald.
Robert Beerbohm Notice Martin thunk this up in 1938 a full year before he had any comic book magazines at all

Captain America was actually created by Joe Simon and Jack Kirby, and can be seen as similar to "The Shield", a preexisting comic book superhero. The version of the hero's origin given by Sat Lee in this book gives the credit to Martin Goodman. Stan Lee ended up taking credit for everything himself.
