The Babe Of Steel

Not only does Superman become a baby in this story, but Lois Lane does as well.

"Superman Meets Susie"

Lois Lane's little niece appeared in several Superman stories. This one evidently introduced her.

ACTION COMICS #68, January 1944.
Cover by Wayne Boring, Ira Yarbrough and George Roussos. Interior art by Ira Yarbrough and George Roussos. Written by Don Cameron.

From the Wayne Boring group on facebook.

It was a recurring thing in the comics that Superman would say that he needed to teach Lois Lane a lesson. To me, this seems slightly odd.

Lois Lame teaches Susie a lesson, which is somewhat more understandable, as she is a little girl.

Some classic Superman newspaper comic strips.

Lois Lane had her own strip, too.

Superman "X-Ray Gun"

In SUPERMAN #198, Clark Kent used an x-ray gun to reveal that Clark Kent was really Superman. Really. Not only was it on the cover, it was in the story inside.

Of course, it turned out that "our" Clark Kent was the real one all along, but for story purposes he had to have an out so that he could keep on using his secret identity.

So he reveals that the "x-ray gun" actually projects a Superman insignia on whoever it's aimed at.

In other words, it's more or less the same thing as the "Krypto-Ray Gun", and looks a lot like it, too. But nobody recognizes Clark Kent's clever trick and so everybody is fooled.

Somehow, Captain Marvel never got to play keen tricks like this on his friends in his stories.

Lois Lane With A Gun

It's not unusual for comic book heroes and heroines to use guns. Lois Lane uses a tommy gun in the cartoon BILLION DOLLAR LIMITED,

and on the classic 1950's tv show in "Jimmy Olsen, Editor".

In another episode, "Beware The Wrecker", Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen are able to capture one of the bad guys at his hideout with the aid of a rifle they find there. But neither of them actually shoots it.

They only use it to first capture him and then to hold him at bay in order to tie him up.

The bad guy is played by Denver Pyle, by the way.

In none of these was Lois Lane supposed to have killed anyone. Gratuitous killing was not supposed to be something that the good guys did in kid's comic books or tv shows in that period.

"The Most Hated Girl In Metropolis" - LOIS LANE #9

An early Lois Lane story from the ninth issue of that title. And as for this story's title, my response would be that I loved Lois Lane even if nobody else did.
