MEET CORLISS ARCHER

When I did a search for "Moronica" at "Comic Book Plus", I found another Moronica story, but this Moronica is a dog. The main character in this comic is "Corliss Archer". Comic Book Plus informs us that "Corliss Archer's appearance on the cover and interior stories is based on Janet Waldo, the actress who played the character on the "Meet Corliss Archer" radio series."*

Moronica - Three Stooges

The name "Moronica" was jokingly applied to movie star Veronica Lake, and was also used by the Three Stooges in their films.


In HIGHER THAN A KITE ( 1943 ), Larry Fine disguised himself as "Moronica", a reference to Veronica Lake.

 

 That's why he has the hair in front of one eye.

 

 

 

However, the Stooges had already used the name "Moronica" as the name of a mythical country in YOU NAZTY SPY.

 

And it's possible that wasn't related to Veronica Lake, because it was before she was a big star.

Addie Addlebrain - COOKIE #49

The last Moronica story I've seen that was published by the American Comics Group was in COOKIE #48. Addie Addlebrain appeared in the next issue and resembles Moronica, only she's a brunette instead of a blonde.

 

 

 

 

Actually Moronica was a brunette to begin with, if you go back to her first appearances where she was drawn by Milt Gross..
