Acceleration can cause people to black out, so this angle is actually "scientifically accurate". Superman also overtook a spaceship and boarded it in the then-recent serial ATOM MAN VS. SUPERMAN ( 1950 ).
They had a "human bomb" story on THE ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN during the first season. Phyllis Coates had a bigger part in that one. At least at first she did. After handcuffing himself to her, the human bomb switched to Jack Larsen. Then of course the emphasis shifted to his character again, like usual.
