Superman's New Power

Superman gains a new super power, but it only lasts until the end of the story. This adventure could be seen as being related to the Shaver Mystery, as it involves a spaceship that was buried for years before Superman happened to find it. Originally published in November 1958. Art by Wayne Boring.

The Domain Of The Doomed

This fantasy tale from the American Comics Group involves the discovery of a race of other-worldly monsters outside the atmosphere by a man and woman who survive without air. Improbable as it might seem, it might also be said that the protagonists, being a man and a woman, seem more relatable than the trios of talking poultry found in certain other comics.  From FORBIDDEN WORLDS #3 ( 1951 )

The Golden Prince

The American Comics Group was another company that was in some way connected to DC Comics.  Clark Kent and Lois Lane can sometimes be spotted in their stories, something that was probably meant to be a gag at the time. There's a pretty good depiction of Clark Kent and Lois Lane in the third panel in this story. The story is credited to Sven Larson ( probably Richard Hughes under a different name ), and the art is credited to Edd Ashe. Originally published in ADVENTURES INTO THE UNKNOWN #123 in 1961.

Nyoka - "Queen Of The Jewels"

N

The character of Nyoka is a jungle girl and was supposed to have come from a novel of that name by Edgar Rice Burroughs, the creator of Tarzan. But actually the name "Nyoka" was the creation of the writers of the JUNGLE GIRL serial, and it was they who made her a sort of female Tarzan. The comic book Nyoka is based on Kay Aldridge in PERILS OF NYOKA, her costume sometimes being simplified ( as in this story ) to make things easier for the artist.    Originally published in NYOKA THE JUNGLE GIRL #6 ( 1946 ).
