Millie The Model #50

This story was originally published in MILLIE THE MODEL #50 in January 1954. Art is by Dan DeCarlo. The story has Stan Lee's name on it and nobody else's, which is sort of typical for Stan Lee.

Lorna The Jungle Girl - "Jungle Uprising"

The comic book LORNA THE JUNGLE GIRL was originally LORNA THE JUNGLE QUEEN. And this story is a reprint from the 70's title JUNGLE ACTION. Hulk's Friend Irma

The Incredible Hulk in his secret identity was staying at a rooming house for a while, the same place that a blonde was staying at, and a character called "Professor Kroptokin". This looks like a reference to "My Friend Irma" because Irma stayed at the same rooming house as a "Professor Krepotkin". Marvel of course published the comic book MY FRIEND IRMA back when they were known as "Atlas", some years before they started publishing THE INCREDIBLE HULK.


Here are a couple of pages from issue #231 of THE INCREDIBLE HULK.

This "Kropotkin" resembles Orson Wells.

Waku Of The Bantu

Waku of the Bantu was another character in Atlas comics in the 1950's during the same period ( and in the same title ) as Jann of the Jungle. What was unusual about this character was that he was black. Usually the jungle heroes in this period were white. That was the thing that made them seem unusual in those stories.
