VANILLA AND THE VILLIANS was a burlesque of the old-time melodramas, similar to HAIRBREADTH HARRY or DESPERATE DESMOND. It's also similar to the Fanny Zilch cartoons which were done a few years later. The strip was written by Harry Hershfield ( who had also written DESPERATE DESMOND ) and drawn by
Darrell McClure.
