THE RUBY EYE OF THE MONKEY GOD was intended to be another component of the SALLY SARGENT show, an unsold pilot which was the last production of Terrytoons. Like SALLY SARGENT, it had Hanna-Barberra people working on it and it tends to resemble those cartoons, particularly JONNY QUEST. The business of the boy with the eye of an idol is also reminiscent of Sabu's adventures in THE THIEF OF BAGDAD.
