THE UP-TO-DATE UNCLE TOM'S CABIN was intended to be a modern version of the classic antislavery story, still popular as a stage show when the strip was published, Feb. 26 to April 5, 1905. Like many actors of the day, the stars of the play seem to be perpetually between engagements and are forever short of funds, in addition to which the actor playing Uncle Tom always seems to be trying to escape. These two strips are from "The Stripper's Guide" and were sent in by a fan of the stripper.
